Stiftungen

The Montag Stiftungen are an independent, charitable group of foundations in Bonn. The group comprises the Montag Stiftung Jugend und Gesellschaft (Youth and Society), the Montag Stiftung Urbane Räume (Urban Spaces), the Montag Stiftung Kunst und Gesellschaft (Art and Society) and the Montag Stiftung Denkwerkstatt (Communications and Think Tank).

In line with the policy of „action and design with social responsibility“…

… the foundations each operate independently and project-focused in one of the fields of pedagogical architecture, equal opportunity urban development, participation in the arts, education in the digital transformation, concepts for the future, and inclusive all-day education. The Carl Richard Montag Förderstiftung, the umbrella foundation and holder of the foundations’ assets, finances the project-related work of the foundations in keeping with the ideology of the founder Carl Richard Montag. It is supported by the Montag Stiftung Denkwerkstatt as the driving force and ideas generator, which is also responsible for advising on strategy and for the overarching communications and public relations work for the group of foundations.

The Montag Stiftung Jugend und Gesellschaft is an independent charitable foundation belonging to the Montag Stiftungen in Bonn. In its focus areas of pedagogical architecture, education in the digital transformation and inclusive all-day education, it is committed to promoting an everyday world of equal opportunities, in which every person can participate equally and in which the best possible opportunities for development and education are open to all children and young people equally.

The Montag Stiftung Urbane Räume is an independent charitable foundation belonging to the Montag Stiftungen in Bonn. In line with the foundation group’s policy of “Action and design with social responsibility”, the Montag Urban Spaces Foundation works as an independent partner to support local authorities, associations and civil society initiatives in those neighbourhoods that are marked by specific economic and social conditions.

The Montag Stiftung Kunst und Gesellschaft is an independent charitable foundation belonging to the Montag Stiftungen in Bonn. It promotes the anchoring of artistic ideas, concepts and projects in a society in which every person has the opportunity to discover the multifaceted forms of artistic expression and to explore this potential in their own right. It advocates for an equal opportunities society, in which everyone can participate equally in all cultural assets.

Together with artists and other partners, the foundation carries out participatory art projects that highlight the conditions prevalent in society. In doing so, the foundation seeks to include different people on site showing their respective realities of life.

The Montag Stiftung Denkwerkstatt is an independent charitable foundation belonging to the Montag Stiftungen in Bonn. In line with the foundation group’s policy of ” with social responsibility”, it assumes the task of tracking down forward-looking topics relevant to society, of seeking a constructive dialogue with people from different environments and backgrounds, and of initiating processes for social change. The Montag Stiftung Denkwerkstatt designs, moderates and organises events, dialogue forums and workshops for different types of participants, as much for the experts from various specialist fields as for the general public.

The Carl Richard Montag Förderstiftung is the umbrella foundation of the group. Its primary tasks are to safeguard the ideological and financial independence of the group of foundations long-term and thus to create a stable framework for the work of the operational Montag foundations.

The Carl Richard Montag DFörderstiftung finances the projects of the individual Montag Stiftungen and secures the financial independence of the foundation group. It does not sponsor any projects other than those of the Montag Stiftungen.

Montag Service Gesellschaft

The Montag Service Gesellschaft supports, advises and coordinates the work of all the foundations and companies in the group with an extensive portfolio of internal services.

The Montag Service Gesellschaft provides various services within the foundation group, which are contractually agreed with the individual independent organisational unit. It is the newest company of the Montag Stiftungen – yet at the same time it has the longest history. Since 2019 it has bundled the activities of Hausbau Invest GmbH & Co KG and C.R. Montag Vermögensverwaltung GmbH, which for many years handled the building activities of the foundation group as well as the business services. As the core service company, the Montag Service Gesellschaft today deals with all the activities to do with commercial construction, plus the internal services and administration, with its expert knowledge and communal responsibility and, like the entire foundation group, it has been set up to be long-term, stable and secure.
